I didn’t really get a chance to make anything today, so here is the Rock Golem from my Animation Final. I really do like the rendering settings I’ve been doing for the pixel models so I decided to do that for this as well. The textures are high-res textures though so it looks a little crappy from exporting the photoshop animation. Like its supposed to be 16 colors hahaha.
Its from Risk of Rain by the way, of course =P

Here’s the first Robot Master! Well not the first in order in the games but the first I’ve modeled! It was very interesting to make. I started with the body, then did the arms, then the hips and legs, then the head. There were plenty of weird hiccups but overall I’m pleased with it. I wanted to do some kind of pose but just stuck with him standing. Next time will be better and more interesting.

I tried recording this one to show a time-lapse of my process in making these. Its a lot more involved then it looks unfortunately haha which is why I wanted to record it. Its a long pipeline. BUT I used VLC Media Player to record and there were tons and tons of graphical glitches and artifacts. So I’ll have to try again next time.
The up side was I got to see how long this took. It took about 55 minutes from starting the model to finishing making the gif.

Soooo I dug up my “Megaman Robot Master Field Guide” and upon re-examining the Robot Masters up close again, I discovered something. The Robot Masters aren’t all that complex, geometrically anyway. At least most of them. SO I MIGHT START MODELING SOME OF THEM! Here’s Eddie to show that I’m serious about it =)

HERE IT IS, YA JERK! This one was a little tricky. Obviously a drill has a spiral shape on it so it can “drill” and move forward into something, but I tried modeling that and it didn’t look very good at all. So I just modeled it compared to the image. Also it had a yellow outline underneath the red one and I tried showing that as well, but I’m not sure how to make a model have 2 ink outlines. I like it though! I’ll start posting the images of what I’m modeling too.

Gasoline, great for setting the ground on fire when your enemies die. I mean…I guess maybe you fill their bodies with it before you kill them? But then how does the Huntress do it, cause she’s ranged. Maybe when she does her teleport move, she does it while in mid-teleport. But then how does the commando do it? Ah who cares…=P

SWEET sorry for the almost identical post but I figured out how to do the Ink And Paint texture! I had looked up what to put the render settings as before I started these models and I guess one of them turned off the outline of the Ink And Paint texture so I finally just tried rendering with each setting being turned on and it finally worked. Its kind of weird with this one but now they really resemble the items with the color corresponding to what rank item it is.

Probably the best offensive item for a tank: The Tesla Coil. This one had some good and bad. The good was how nice the electricity looks and the middle column thing. The electricity is modeled directly after how it looks in the game. The bad is how theres no specular highlights which is again a fault of my bad UV mapping. I tried to, and I almost got it correctly, but the bottom ring of the dish wasn’t mapping in cooperation with the top rings, so it was impossible to match up the texture I drew. OH WELL next time! I still like it a lot.

YEEEAH QUAGSIRE! I love this Pokemon, definitely in my top 3 favorite. Cool design and actually very usable in competitive play. Some of the UVs I layed out well and some of them I didn’t. I’m still getting used to how 3DS Max does things and how to group polys. But yeah! I tried to really match its dimensions and proportions with a plastic figure and a front image of the Pokemon Stadium 2 model.
